Signs of what is happening in the world with global unrest and the inability to know truth from lies, are all telling us it is time to heal ourselves of the cold, hibernation, introspection, protectionism and fear, that represents the winter-water element in traditional medicine. Add to that the fever pitch of discord, violence and anxiety being streamed on social platforms and in the media. We need to prepare our hearts and souls for changes that are upon us as we begin, or continue, to question the norms, customs, expectations, beliefs and world views that others impose on us.
We are not only inextricably connected to our physical environment as science outlines in quantum physics, but we are also one with the invisible consciousness of the universe. Therefore our thoughts and actions not only affect our own health, but the well-being of others and how the future is manifested. At this time many are struggling in the barrage of chaos and hate that surrounds us. Our current environment is heavily impacting everyone emotionally and spiritually. Emotional and spiritual blockages can cause physical pain and dis-ease and vice versa.
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Qi flows and circulates through our bodies to give us vitality. When this life-force is stagnant or blocked, patterns of dysfunction occur. When there is no flow, there is pain. Getting rid of blockages on all levels, opens up this flow of energy, so that our frequencies become more harmonious. Our life force needs to be flowing appropriately for us to be healthy. This includes our emotional life. Both the suppression of emotions and emotional extremes make us physically sick. For example:
Anger and guilt causes Liver Qi to rise creating symptoms such as headaches, high blood pressure, reproductive issues, vision loss, depression and insomnia, et al.
Worry and pensiveness knots the Spleen Qi and Stomach Qi, resulting in digestive issues, weak muscles, fatigue, bruising, bleeding and varicose veins, et al.
Sadness and grief dissolves Lung Qi. This weakens the lungs and our immunity making us vulnerable to respiratory issues, skin conditions, colds and flu.
Shock and fear causes Kidney Qi to descend and dissolve. This causes weakened fertility, bladder problems, hearing loss, per-mature grey hair, sore knees and back, et al.
All emotional blockages or extremes slow down the Heart Qi, the house of the Shen (the mind, cognition) and creates anxiety, mood swings and insomnia.
Conversely, our physical health also affects our emotions. When you don't eat, get enough sleep or suffer from acute or chronic disease these affect our emotional balance. The only way to extend our lives is to supplement the Qi we were born with through the air we breathe and the food we eat. We conserve the life force we were born with, by the way we live. Food choices, sources and preparations focused on natural, fresh and local, ensures a good vibration in what we consume. Spending time in nature and absorbing the sun's rays, fresh air and paying attention to movement and being active, are all important components for baseline healing.
Empowered healing, however, lies in understanding the impact of energy, vibration and frequencies on the body, mind and spirit. It is possible to optimize various forms of energy and direct it to a specific purposeful intention, fuelled by compassion, empathy and gratitude, in a way that can increase healing power. Active engagement of one's own bio-energetic field, can produce a compassionate presence. When infused with wisdom, it can influence energetic patterns in both internal and external bio-fields that not only restores personal health, but the health of others.
If you find yourself feeling strong emotions, get in touch with what you are feeling. Don't get busy so you don't have to think about it. Don't blame someone else for feeling the way you do. Often we only see the shadow of the cause of our emotional imbalance when we see it reflected in someone else. If you find an external source is causing you to become unbalanced, cut it off and avoid it. As adults who are more aware, many feel hated and misunderstood. Some wonder if they were conceived on the wrong planet. Only you can allow yourself to feel the way you do.
It is not easy to be who you really are. It is especially hard to break away from the constraints family and friends put on us, to be who they think we are and should be. Expressing your true self that is aligned with your values is key. By focusing on healing yourself, you become a light that will guide the world and expose the darkness for what it is. Taking care of one-self not only allows us to be freer, but our vibes will help heal those around us even when they don’t want to hear our opinions or accept what we believe. We each have the power to change the world and healing ourselves in order to impact it in a positive way, is needed now more than ever.
