Hello, I am a holistic health specialist with a background in science, research, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture. I operated my own healing clinic until the pandemic. After the closures, I began writing full time and decided to continue. Healing is a process that encompasses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual, the environment and society at large. Cole Harbour County Home: Uncomfortable Truths, Yesterday & Today

The Cole Harbour County Home arose from the poor farms and work houses early in Nova Scotia's history. It operated from 1887 until it closed in 2002. Eventually it became the Halifax County Hospital and then the Cole Harbour Regional Rehabilitation Centre accredited for the treatment of patients with mental health issues. Although it was considered one of the better run institutions of its kind, it acquired a reputation for scandals and infamy. Who lived there and how they survived, is a particularly sad story.
