Yin, Yang and Hope

What is happening in the world is uncovering, in a big way, what is wrong on planet Earth. The true face of human existence is not the beautiful picture we want to believe it is. This applies to our external environments, our internal lives, the microcosmic workings of our communities and the macrocosm of global world politics. For too long we have propped-up a culture of a false and superficial peace that denies the existence of the darkness.

To bring about balance, we need to listen to those who are expressing their pain. We need to allow their words to move us towards introspection of what is dark in us. We need to recognize and acknowledge the things that are not working. There cannot be real freedom and abundance until it is true for all of us, not just the few. True peace cannot come until all these things that are broken, are reconciled.

Yin and yang, is dynamic and fluid, flowing back and forth, where both dark and light are always in balance. The darkness of yin is water, cold, negative, paralyzed, introspective and asleep. The light of yang is fire, hot, positive, active, extrovert and awake. This nature of yin and yang is true for everything. While darkness is growing, at its darkest hour, it will always flow back again towards the kindling warmth of fire and light. Just as we now see days getting longer, there is a guarantee of hope for the future.
